Tarantulas may look scary, but they’re mostly harmless to humans. They hold some fun records, including:
This spider is considered the most dangerous spider to humans. It has powerful venom and long fangs — but don’t worry! Thanks to antivenom, bites are now rarely fatal.
The saltwater crocodile is the biggest reptile alive today. Some can grow over 20 feet long and weigh more than a small car. Despite their size, they are excellent swimmers!
The reticulated python is the longest snake in the world! Some have been measured at over 20 feet long—that’s longer than a school bus is wide. These giant snakes live in Southeast Asia and are excellent swimmers, often found near rivers and swamps. Even though they don’t have venom, reticulated pythons are powerful constrictors and squeeze their prey before swallowing it whole. Their beautiful, net-like scale pattern is what gives them the name reticulated, which means “woven like a net.”

The Tyrannosaurus rex, or T-rex, was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs ever to walk the Earth! It lived about 68–66 million years ago and could grow up to 40 feet long, with teeth as big as bananas. Even though its arms were tiny, the T-rex had an incredibly powerful bite—strong enough to crush bone. With sharp senses and massive jaws, this famous dinosaur was a top predator of its time.
